An LED TV is just an LCD TV that’s backlit with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) instead of standard cold-cathode fluorescent lights (or CCFL) used in traditional LCD televisions. So the term “LED TV” used by some manufacturers may be a misnomer. This kind of backlighting allows a thinner panel, consumes less power, dissipates heat better and provides a brighter display with better contrast levels.
